Definition
It is from the mosquito (culicidae) family known as the Asian Tiger Mosquito (Aedes Albopistus), its main homeland is the tropical and subtropical regions of southeast Asia. However, in recent years, this type has reached many countries through product transportation and international travel.
The most distinctive distinguishing feature is the white stripes on the body and legs. Since the tiger mosquito is in close contact with humans, it constantly breeds in our vicinity, even in a small amount of water, larvae can develop. This species is more active during the daytime, and it has become an important pest in the community because it generally feeds at sunset and dawn.

Features

Adults of the Asian tiger mosquito are shorter than 100mm with white and black stripes. Males are 20% shorter than females. Like other mosquitoes, the female is equipped with a long proboscis from which she collects blood to feed her eggs. With such a quick bite, he has agility that allows him to evade anyone who attempts to crush him. Males feed on nectar and do not bite.
The female does not lay her eggs directly in the water as other mosquitoes do, usually near a stagnant pond or any open container with water, even with less than 30ml of water will be sufficient for larvae development.
It can also breed in running water, so stagnant pools are not the only breeding ground. Spawning in water sources near flowers is more likely than in water sources without flowers. It has a short flight range, so its breeding grounds are likely to be close to where this mosquito is found.

Originally from southeast Asia, this species is active all year in warm tropical and subtropical regions, but has also adapted to cool, temperate regions where they hibernate in winter.
The species can tolerate sub-freezing snow and temperatures. Adult tiger mosquitoes can survive all winter under suitable living conditions.
